Tomorrow is too late, today is not. Organise your living.

I refrain from offering more than my personal experiences or strong opinions on topics like procrastination and happiness because they involve numerous complex factors. However, generally speaking, I've never been one to procrastinate. I've learned that having a plan always triumphs over procrastination because it instills a sense of organised living and eagerness to accomplish something that's been written down or stored in our minds. Yet, there have been times when deviating from a structured plan has resulted in months of prolonged studies afterward, as an example. However, procrastination can have dire consequences, as illustrated by the scenario where postponing a visit to the doctor for a medical note to excuse oneself from an exam leads to expulsion from university, at least in Germany.

While the above scenario may seem absurdly (at least in Bulgaria), there's merit in the idea that there are ways to enhance focus and productivity. For many people, mornings are when energy levels are highest. If you're one of them, tackle tasks immediately after waking up and having your first cup of tea or coffee. To delve deeper into enhancing concentration, I recommend tuning in to the renowned Huberman Lab podcast episode on "How to Enhance Focus and Improve Productivity," featuring Dr. Newport. Personally, I've found success in staying more organized and focused by abstaining from social media for at least two days. This practice has led to improved thought processes and generated better ideas when needed most.

Returning to the topic of this blog, let's explore situations where procrastination becomes our enemy.

Launching a project or pursuing a dream endeavor is another area where procrastination can hinder progress. As the saying goes, "Start, and the project is finished." Many successful individuals began by taking the initial step and figured out the rest along the way. Procrastinating or postponing tasks for tomorrow can lead to overthinking and even forgetting the initial motivation behind the project. To achieve success, it's essential to maintain dedication and focus, especially during the project's inception phase.

The same principle applies to employees, regardless of their position, and particularly to young professionals with less experience. If something feels amiss in the workplace, even if the root cause is unclear, it's crucial to communicate with HR or a more experienced manager. Concealing issues at work for an extended period can negatively impact job performance and may even result in job loss.

Most importantly, procrastinating tasks related to health is not advised. When uncertain or feeling unwell, seeking advice from healthcare professionals is essential. In today's fast-paced world, procrastination or hesitancy in seeking medical help can lead to exacerbated health issues, and tragically, in some cases, even fatal outcomes. It's imperative to prioritize health concerns and seek timely medical attention when needed.

Environmental concerns are also worth mentioning. While this blog isn't about current risks and climate change, it's vital to recognize the urgency of environmental issues. Failing to address climate change could have catastrophic consequences, affecting not only political landscapes but also endangering lives and ecosystems. It's heartening to see dedicated individuals working on innovative projects to address these challenges. Procrastination in this context could have dire consequences, emphasizing the importance of action plans and preparedness in addressing environmental issues.

Opportunities. whether it is connected to your job, a relationship - loved one or a friendship. Procrastination may kill the opportunity which you have worked or awaited so long. Please read the following a story about an opportunity I have missed and teach me to take action and decisions quickly:

At the end of my bachelors in Germany, nestled within the corridors of my prestigious university in Essen, I have found myself at a crossroads. Having just completed my bachelor's thesis in a field I  am still deeply passionate about, the future seemed to hold boundless possibilities. My desire and  expertise had not gone unnoticed, as my professor, Prof. Hoffmann, extended a heartfelt invitation to join his esteemed scientific group.

Prof. Hoffmann group was renowned for its groundbreaking research in the burgeoning field of bioinformatics and coming with innovative ways to tackles problems about most emerging viruses for example using data and mathematical and statistical methods implemented within a computer programs. With a team comprised of the brightest minds in the university, opportunities for growth and advancement seemed endless. My mind raced with excitement at the prospect of contributing to such cutting-edge work.

However, as graduation approached, exhaustion crept in, clouding my judgment and dampening my enthusiasm. Caught in the whirlwind of academic demands and the weight of deciding what my next endeavour should we, I  postponed responding to my proffessors email, intending to give it the attention it deserved once they had caught their breath.

Few weeks passed, and as I finally mustered the energy to compose a reply, my heart sank as I  read Prof. Hoffmann’s response. The once-open door to the scientific group had closed, the opportunity slipping through my fingers like grains of sand. The coveted spot had been swiftly filled, leaving me with a profound sense of regret and missed potential.

In the years that followed, this phd group continued to make waves in the world by cross- university collaborations and beyond, their groundbreaking discoveries shaping the landscape of computational biology. I could not help but wonder what could have been, realizing that the opportunity to work alongside such brilliant minds was indeed a rare gem that only comes around once in a decade.

As the field of bioinformatics and everything computer continued to flourish, I found myself navigating a slightly different path within medicine, filled with its own successes and challenges. Yet, the memory of that missed opportunity served as a poignant reminder of the importance of seizing the moment and never underestimating the impact of timely action. Though the road ahead may have diverged, the lessons learned from this missed opportunity would forever shape my journey ahead.
