Code, compute, produce, there is no limit to what your bank account should look like, yet, what is enough in todays world depends on what you want to experience, where do you like this money to go, what technology you want to try first, where you live and where you want to be.
Approximately 15 years ago, everyone was satisfied with being in the middle class, you could afford almost everything and provide to your children, with today’s inflation and advancements, being in the middle class, means constantly trying to earn more but being under what is normal access to life. The answer is that I do not know how much money is enough money but there comes an answer with the realisation of the potential we have as part of society. We can create few case scenarios where it is possible to make an estimate.
You run a company with more than 1000 employees
In this scenario you earn more than 80-90% of society. As someone who is not part of this class yet, it is hard for me to predict what is the needed to sustain life that pays the hard workloads. In my case, whenever I reach this level, that means that my company value is what represents my efforts and idea. The devotion I will have to it and with the current values and views that I have, I do not predict that I will need the luxury to spent the whole day every day around a pool, rather than have a company where everyone would like to spent most of their time at and at times be able to afford going wherever best conditions for having a restful day or week.
At that point you might have invested in a property for living, you would be interested in other companies where you as well want to invest and your growing ideas, products and services will drive your mindset to ever greater horizons. What will be needed will once again depend on your goal as a human, as well as what levels you want the company to reach. In todays world, the value of money is oftentimes compared to freedom. This may very well be true in countries that has developed their economic and human sector so well that the production of a human is as well tool for him to purchase himself/herself all goods and services available.
I’ve researched examples of large business owners or CEOs of big companies from all spheres and found out that their net worth ranges more than anyone could think of even with equal number of employees and high revenue of the company. For example a CEO of a big pharmaceutical company may have riches of around 30 to 50 Million U.S dollars wheres a founder or chairman of large football club generates a lot more, reaching net worth of couple of billions. The big amounts of philanthropy those people make is surely a statement that they earn more than they return in investments and costs.
You work or run a small business and your goal is to save for retirement: You might consider earning between $100 000 and $150 000 dollars a year
You are at the start of your career and your goal is to gain enough skills: I encourage you looking for earning at least 30% more than what is spent on: taxes, housing, including rents, grocery, entertainment, health insurance and hobbies.
It all depends on your goals, what are your senses of what degree of your human's potential and global opportunities you want to use. There are universal moral, truth and freedoms that are worth more than the value of money. If you want to buy flowerws for many people more than just you, the minimal effort or pay system will never satisfy. In that sense, it is better to aim higher.
